Secure the EU research budget for a future-oriented Europe!
Priority for the research budget is crucial for achieving economic prosperity and solutions for global challenges. Read the text of the petition and voice your concerns on the EU budget to the heads of states or governments.
Sign the petition - and invite others to join!
|
This petition reflects the mobilisation of research communities, including
younger scientists, the members of learned societies and of concerned citizens.
It complements the open letter of 42 European
Nobel Laureates and 5 Fields Medallists recently published in the major
European newspapers. ERC Starting Grant holders, organised in the Young Academy of Europe, are some of the first signatories of the petition, which also stresses the importance of funding provided by the European Research Council (ERC) for the attractiveness of Europe for top researchers. |

Analytical SCF Systems...
I was trying to writte a review of supercritical fluid chormatographs available on the market...
and I only found 3...
I've only worked with the THAR (now water) method station and I hope they have improved retention time reproducibility...
But SCF gives fast and high resolution analysis.

FLUCOMP 2012
The VI meeting of FLUCOMP members will be held in the Institute of Food Science Research (Cial) in Madrid the 28th and 29th June 2012.
It will be a discussion forum on the current state of compressed fluids technologiesin Spain and to share the advances that are performed in this field in our country.
Moreover, this year FLUCOMP Association has organized a Training on "Fundamentals and Applications of Compresed Fluids" wkth theoretical and practical lessons, that will take place in June 26-27, just before the meeting.
The course is aimed at students and professionals interested in starting the applications of compressed fluids and will have some trainigs in the pilot plant of CIAL.
Abstract for participation in the FLUCOMP meeting can be sent up to 27 April (it's an allreasy extended date... so don't wait too much!).

LLLIC-PIHPT 2012
Last year I haven't been able to fint the information about the Life Long Learning Intensive Course: Supercritical Fluids-Green Solvents in Chemical Engineering ... (also known as LLLIC SCG-GSCE)
the fact is that it seems the name has changed...
but topics are similar...
Now it's call LLLIC-PIHPT... (Process Intensification by High Pressure Technologies)
The course will take place from 1st July to 18th July 2012, first week at University of Maribor (Slovenia) and the second week at Graz University (Austria).
This year deadline for registration is on 11th May 2012
You can find all the information at www.scfintensivecourse.npage.at
I copy some information here to facilitate the task!

Life Long Learning Intensive Course SCF-GSCE: Supercritical Fluids - Green Solvents in Chemical Engineering
I've found this information about the " Life Long Learning Intensive Course SCF-GSCE: Supercritical Fluids - Green Solvents in Chemical Engineering"
And I can't avoid to copy the info in the blog...
I attend the course in Istanbul in 2009, and inform in this blog about the course in 2010...
but I really don't know if it took place in 2011 and what is going to happen this year...
I'll try to get informed and post something! (If somebody knows something, comments are welcome! )

Hydrogen-Powered Symbiotic Bacteria Found in Deep-Sea Hydrothermal Vent Mussels
Very interesting article.
The search for new energy sources to power humankind's increasing needs is currently a topic of immense interest. Hydrogen-powered fuel cells are considered one of the most promising clean energy alternatives. While intensive research efforts have gone into developing ways to harness hydrogen energy to fuel our everyday lives, a natural example of a living hydrogen-powered 'fuel cell' has gone unnoticed.Source: Science Daily
